DMACC's Wali Parks and Nibra White Earn All-Region Honors

Wali Parks and Nibra White Named All-Region
Wali Parks of Iowa City, a freshman on the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) men's basketball team has been named to the first team of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XI All-Region First Team.

Sophomore Nibra White of Evanston, Ill., earned honorable mention recognition.

Parks led the Bears in scoring this past season with 474 points and a 15.8 per game scoring average. He shot 48 percent from the field, hitting 167 of 368 field goal attempts. Parks was 26-of-83 from three-point range for 31 percent and made 114 of 164 free throw attempts for 70 percent. Parks also led DMACC in rebounding with 200 rebounds, including 143 defensive rebounds, and a 6.7 average. His season included 64 assists, 35 steals and 21 blocked shots.

White was second on the team in scoring with 329 points, averaging 11 points a game. He shot 39 percent from the field, making 114 of 290 field goal attempts, and was 32-of-108 from three-point range for 30 percent. White made 69 of 122 free throws for 57 percent. White led the Bears in assists with 113, averaging 3.8 assists a game. His season included 99 rebounds, including 81 defensive rebounds, 44 steals and five blocked shots.

The DMACC men's basketball team concluded the season at 15-16 record and a fourth-place finish in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) at 4-8.
