Freshman Peyton Parker of La Porte City had 13 kills and sophomore Lauren Rieck of Ankeny finished with nine as the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) volleyball team handed Iowa Lakes Community College (ILCC) a 3-0 loss September 27 inside the DMACC gymnasium.
The Bears won by scores of 25-10, 25-17, 25-13 to improved to 10-9 for the season and 3-1 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC). DMACC hit .405 in the win, getting 41 kills from 84 attacks with just seven hitting errors.
Freshman Gill Tupper of Nevada came away with a team-high 12 digs in the win, sophomore Rachael Bair of Braddyville had 11 and Paulsen added nine. Freshman Brianna Harvey of Dysart led DMACC in blocks with four and Rieck and Paulsen had two apiece.
The DMACC volleyball team will play in the Johnson County Volleyball Challenge Sept. 29 and 30 at Overland Park, Kan. The Bears will face Central Community College-Columbus and Johnson County Community College on Sept. 29 and will play North Platte Community College and Cowley County Community College on Sept. 30.
