DMACC's Adam Leininger named ICCAC Athlete of the Week
  • Leininger had four hits, including two home runs, as the Bears went 1-2 in their season opening series
  • Leininger hit a game-tying three-run home run in a 10-9 win over Hutchinson CC
  • Leininger is batting .385 with two home runs and seven RBIs

 

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Adam Leininger the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II Baseball for the week of February 2 to 8.

 

Leininger, a sophomore from Fargo, N.D., is the first member of the DMACC baseball team to be honored by the conference this season.

 

Leininger batted .500 with two home runs and seven runs batted in as the Bears went 1-2 in their season-opening series against Hutchinson Community College (HCC) Feb. 7 and 8 at Hutchinson, Kan.

 

Leininger belted a three-run game-tying home run in the top of the seventh as the Bears opened the series with a 10-9 win in 10 innings on Feb. 7. He hit a solo home run in the third inning of a 5-2 loss in the second game on Feb. 7 and went 2-of-4 with a pair of singles and one RBI as the Bears dropped the final game of the series 13-12, on Feb. 8.

 

Leininger is batting .385 with a .845 slugging percentage and a .579 on-base percentage through DMACC's first three games. His five hits in 13 at-bats include two home runs and he has scored five runs and driven in seven runs. He also has two walks, one strikeout and one stolen base.

 

The DMACC baseball team will take a seven-game road trip to Texas and Oklahoma Feb. 13 to 17. The Bears will play a doubleheader against Dallas North Lake Community College (DNLCC) Feb. 13 in Dallas, Texas, and will play doubleheaders against Dallas Eastfield College (DEC)  Feb. 14 and 15, also in Dallas, Texas. The Bears will close out the trip with a doubleheader against Northern Oklahoma College-Enid Feb. 17 at Enid, Okla.
