DMACC's Andrew Theiss named ICCAC Pitcher of the Week
  • Theiss pitched four and a third scoreless innings during the week
  • Theiss struck out two batters and walked one batter
  • Theiss is 1-1 with a 5.68 earned run average this season

 

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Andrew Theiss the ICCAC Pitcherof the Week for Division II Baseball (pitching) for the Week of March 23 to 29.

 

Theiss, a sophomore from Clear Lake, is being honored for the first time this season and he is one of five members of the DMACC baseball team to be honored by the conference this season. Freshman Drew Owen of Alleman was honored for his hitting the week of March 2 to 8 and sophomore Adam Leininger of Fargo, N.D., was honored for his hitting the week of Feb. 2 to 8. Freshman Grayson Kirsch of Marion and sophomore Gage Miller of Mandan, N.D., have been honored for their pitching, Kirsch the week of March 2 to 8 and Miller the week of Feb. 16 to 22.

 

Theiss pitched four and a third scoreless innings as the Bears went 2-2 during the week. He pitched two and a third innings in a 3-2 win over Northeast (Neb.) Community College (NENCC) on March 25, earning his first win of the season and threw two innings, striking out two batters and walking one in a 12-11 win over Iowa Western Community College (IWCC) on March 28.

 

Theiss is 1-1 with a 5.68 earned run average this season. He has pitched 19 innings, allowing 16 runs, 12 earned runs, on 19 hits with 16 strikeouts and eight walks. Theiss is averaging 7.58 strikeouts per nine innings and is averaging 1.42 walks and hits per inning.

 

The DMACC baseball team, 14-17 overall and 2-3 in the ICCAC, will face Northeast (Iowa) Community College (NEICC) in a three-game series April 3 and 4 at the DMACC baseball diamond. The two teams will play a doubleheader on April 3 and a single game on April 4. NEICC is 3-23 overall and 0-6 in the ICCAC.
