DMACC's Brock Moore named ICCAC Athlete of the Week
  • Moore batted .556 as the Bears won three games during the week
  • Moore's hits included a double and three home runs
  • Moore drove in 13 runs and scored five runs

 

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Brock Moore the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II Baseball for the Week of March 30 to April 5.

 

Moore, a sophomore from Urbandale, is being honored for the first time this season and he is one of five members of the DMACC baseball team to be honored by the conference this season. Freshman Drew Owen of Alleman was honored for his hitting the week of March 2 to 8 and sophomore Adam Leininger of Fargo, N.D., was honored for his hitting the week of Feb. 2 to 8.

 

Three DMACC players have been honored for their pitching performances. Sophomore Andrew Theiss of Clear Lake was honored the week of March 23 to 29 and freshman Grayson Kirsch of Marion was honored the week of March 2 to 8. Sophomore Gage Miller of Mandan, N.D., was honored the week of Feb. 16 to 22.

 

Moore batted .556 with a double and three home runs, 13 runs batted in and five runs scored as the Bears won three games during the week. He was 3-for-4 with a double and a home run, seven RBIs and two runs scored in a 17-5 win over Ellsworth Community College (ECC) March 31 at Iowa Falls and went 2-for-2 with two home runs, four RBIs and two runs scored in a 12-2 win over Northeast (Iowa) Community College (NEICC) in the first game of a doubleheader April 5 at the DMACC baseball diamond. Moore was 0-for-3 in the second game but did drive in two runs when he was hit by pitches twice with the bases loaded.

 

Moore is batting .301 with a .685 slugging percentage and a .509 on-base percentage this season. He has 22 hits in 73 at-bats and his hits include two doubles, a triple and eight home runs. He has driven in 29 runs and scored 24 runs.

 

The DMACC baseball team, 17-17 overall and 5-3 in the ICCAC, faces ECC in a doubleheader today at the DMACC baseball diamond. The Panthers are 12-21 overall and 3-5 in conference play.
