The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Jadan Graves the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II men' basketball for the week of Jan. 16 to 23.
The honor is the second Graves has earned this season and he is the third member of the DMACC men's basketball team to be honored by the conference. He also won the award for the week of Nov. 15 to 21.
Covid-19 sophomore (CoSO) Noah Parcher of LaCrosse, Wis., was honored for the week of Nov. 1 to 7 and Covid-19 freshman (CoFR) Goanar Biliew has been honored twice, the week of Dec. 13 to 19 and the week of Jan. 10 to 16.
Graves, a Covid-19 sophomore (CoSO) from Syracuse, N.Y., led the Bears to victories against Marshalltown Community College (MCC), Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) and Ellsworth Community College (ECC) during the week.
Graves scored 31 points, grabbed three rebounds and dished out five assists in an 85-58 win over MCC on Jan. 18. His 31 points came on 11-of-17 shooting from the field, including a new school-record nine three-point baskets from 13 attempts.
Graves scored 23 points and hauled down six rebounds in leading the Bears to an 87-47 win over ICCC on Jan. 23 and he had 28 points and four rebounds in an 86-67 win over ECC on Jan. 22. Graves was 8-of-11 from the field, including 6-of-8 from three-point range, in the win over ICCC and he was 10-of-15 from the field, including 7-of-10 from three-point range in the win over ECC.
Graves was a combined 22-of-31 from three-point range in the three wins. He leads the ICCAC in scoring at 17.4 points a game and in three-point shooting at 50.4 percent.
Graves, who has scored 323 points this season, is shooting 50.5 percent from the field, having made 106 of 210 field goal attempts. He has made 66 of 131 three-point attempts and is 45-of-54 from the free throw line for 83.3 percent.
Graves season also includes 84 rebounds, 57 assists, 14 steals and four blocked shots.
The DMACC men's basketball team is ranked 15th in the most recent Division II poll from the National Junior College Athletic Association. The Bears, 15-6 overall and 6-2 in the ICCAC, will host Northeast (Neb.) Community College (NECC) on Feb. 5. NECC is 4-14 overall and 0-8 in the ICCAC.
