Freshmen Shelton Colwell, Jr., of Newark, N.J., and Kavon Phillips of Davenport also reached double figures with 15 and 10 points respectively as the Bears, ranked eighth in this week's Division II poll from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), improved to 8-1 for the season.

Colwell, Jr., made six of seven field goal attempts, including two three-pointers in two attempts, and Phillips was 2-of-3 from the field, also hitting both of his three-pointers. The Bears shot 54 percent with 34 field goals from 63 attempts. They were 15-of-28 from three-point range and 18-of-21 from the free throw line.

DMACC pulled away in the first half, securing a 55-36 advantage at intermission, and put the game out of reach in the second half.

KCKCC, led by Anthony Leonard's 21 points, was 25-of-66 from the field for 38 percent. The Blue Devils were 8-of-21 from three-point range and 12-of-15 from the free throw line.

Deng also led the Bears in rebounding with seven as they came away with a 45-28 advantage. Tate had seven rebounds and he, Deng also led the team with four assists apiece.

The DMACC men's basketball team is idle until Dec. 3 when the Bears host Central (Neb.) Community College (CCC) in their Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) opener. CCC, the newest member in the ICCAC, is 6-4 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
