TJ Lacey is a native of Chicago and a graduate of CICS Longwood High School, where his basketball journey began. He continued his playing career at Trinity Christian College, competing for four years before transferring to Rockford University for his final collegiate season. At Rockford, Lacey averaged approximately 12 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists per game, establishing himself as a versatile and impactful player.
Following his playing career, Lacey transitioned into coaching at Rockford University, where he spent two seasons as an assistant coach. During his tenure, he helped guide the program to back-to-back winning seasons, two playoff appearances, and the development of two All-Conference players.
Over the last two years in the Quad Cities, Lacey has continued to make a significant impact on the basketball community. He founded and built a grassroots AAU program from the ground up, growing it into a thriving organization with 24 teams. He also served as the head boys basketball coach at Geneseo High School, where he helped elevate the program to its most successful stretch in recent history, leading the team to more wins than the program had accumulated over the previous five seasons combined.
Beyond basketball, Lacey is a family man. He is the husband of Shamara and the father of two sons, Torian (6) and Titan (4). His passion for mentorship, player development, and servant leadership continues to shape the athletes and communities he serves.
