The DMACC men's golf team came away with a second-place finish in the NIACC Fall Invitational September 7 at the Mason City Country Club in Mason City.
Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) took the team championship with an 18-hole score of 293 and DMACC finished second at 302. ICCC, led by Justin Schipper and Liam Ross, swept the first five individual places in the Individual competition and Schipper and Ross shared medalist honors with even-par rounds of 72.
DMACC was led by Covid-19 freshman (CoFR) Joe Dean of Cedar Falls and freshman Ethan Gills of Pickering, Ontario, Canada, who posted two-over-par 74s, tying for seventh place. CoFR Tyler Sansgaard of Nevada shot 76 and tied for 10th and freshman Sam Vertanen of Ames turned in a 78 to tie for 18th.
Other DMACC scores included a 79 by CoFR Logan Barnes of Altoona, an 82 by CoFR Ryan Nichols of Ogden and an 89 by freshman Hogan Henrich of Newell. Barnes tied for 22nd place, Nichols tied for 30th and Henrich tied for 48th.
The DMACC men's golf team will play in the DMACC Invite Sept. 15 Ames Golf and Country Club in Ames.
