DMACC men's golf team finishes second in DMACC Invitational
  • Freshman Hogan Heinen of Newell leads the Bears with a one-under-par 70 and finishes second overall
  • CoFR Logan Barnes of Altoona and freshman Sam Vertanen of Ames tie for fourth with 72s
  • CoFR Tyler Sansgaard of Nevada ties for eighth with a 73

 

The DMACC men's golf team came away with a second-place finish in the DMACC Invitational Sept. 15 at the Ames Golf and Country Club in Ames.

 

Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) took the team championship with an 18-hole score of 290 and DMACC finished second with a 298. ICCC's Tom Riberio took medalist honors with a two-under-par 69.

 

DMACC was led by freshman Hogan Henrich of Newell who posted a 70 and finished second to Riberio. Covid-19 freshman (CoFR) Logan Barnes of Altoona and freshman Sam Vertanen of Ames tied for fourth with 72s and CoFR Tyler Sansgaard of Nevada was eighth with a 73.

 

Other DMACC results included a 75 by freshman Ethan Gillis of Pickering, Ontario, Canada, 78s by CoFR Joe Dean of Cedar Falls and Jack West of Winterset and an 83 by CoFR Ryan Nichols of Ogden. Gillis tied for 13th, Dean and West tied for 23rd and Nichols tied for 45th.

 

The DMACC men's golf team will play in the ICCAC Fall Preview Sept. 20 at The Preserve on Rathbun Lake in Moravia
