The DMACC men's golf team came away with a second-place finish in the Hawkeye Fall Classic October 1 at Fox Ridge Golf Course in Dike.
Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) won the team championship with an 18-hole score of 289 and DMACC was second at 303. Hawkeye Community College's Austin Reynolds won medalist honors with a three-under-par 69.
DMACC was led by freshman Ethan Gills of Pickering, Ontario, Canada, who posted a two-over-par 74 and tied for sixth in the individual competition. Covid-19 freshman Joe Dean of Cedar Falls finished 11th with a 73 and freshmen Sam Vertanen of Ames tied for 12th with a 76.
All six DMACC golfers placed in the top 15 as CoFR Jack West of Winterset, Logan Barnes of Altoona and Tyler Sansgaard of Nevada each posted a 78 and tied for 15th place.
The DMACC men's golf team will close out the fall season in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Fall Preview Oct. 18 and 19 at Twin Hills Country Club in Joplin, Mo.
