- Tyler Sansgaard ties for fourth in the individual competition and has qualified for the 2022 NJCAA Division II Men's Golf Championship in Joplin, Mo.

The DMACC men's golf team came away with an eighth-place finish in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) North Central District Championship April 30 and May 1 at The Preserve on Rathbun Lake Golf Course in Moravia.
Kirkwood Community College (KCC) took the team championship with a 54-hole score of 895. DMACC posted a 959 in finishing eighth. The Bears turned in rounds of 320, 330 and 309 over the par-72 layout.
DMACC was led by Covid-19 freshman (CoFR) Tyler Sansgaard of Nevada. Sansgaard shot rounds of 76, 77 and 72 for a 54-hole total of 225 and tied for fourth in the individual competition. His performance qualified him for the 2022 NJCAA Division II Men's Golf Championship May 17 to 22 at Twin Hills Country Club in Joplin, Mo.
DMACC freshman Sam Vertanen of Ames and freshman Ethan Gillis of Pickering, Ontario, Canada, tied for 25th and 33rd respectively. Vertanen posted rounds of 79, 83 and 80 for 242 total and Gillis was at 248 on rounds of 79, 86 and 83.
CoFR Jack West of Winterset and CoFR Logan Barnes of Altoona rounded out DMACC's effort with a tie for 36th and a tie for 46th respectively. West finished with a 54-total of 253 on rounds of 86, 84 and 83 and Barnes had a 36-hole score of 160 on rounds of 86 and 74. He did not post a score in the second round.
