The DMACC men's golf team came away with a ninth-place finish in the North Central District Championship May 4 to 6 at Whispering Creek Golf Club in Sioux City.
The Bears posted a 54-hole score of 931 strokes. DMACC shot a 326 in the first round, a 298 in the second round and a 307 in the third round. Kirkwood Community College (KCC) won the team championship with 868 strokes.
Bryson Parker of Northeast (Neb) Community College (NECC) took medalist honors with a 10-under-par 206. He shot rounds of 72, 68 and 66.
Sophomore Caleb Ham of Hudson led DMACC with a tie for 19th place. He posted rounds of 80, 71 and 75 over the par 72 layout for a three-day total of 226 strokes.
Freshman Luke Linde of Winterset tied for 30th place and freshman Faree Alexander of Des Moines tied for 44th place. Linde turned in rounds of 78, 77, 78 for a 54-hole score of 233 and Alexander's total of 241 came on rounds of 83, 80 and 78.
DMACC freshman Ethan Nace of Iowa City played in the second and third rounds, shooting a 36-hole score of 155 on rounds of 72 and 83 and finished in 62nd place. Sophomore Lari Hakanen of Kereva, Finland played in the first and second rounds and tied for 64th with a two-day total of 163. He shot rounds of 85 and 78. Freshman Joey Currans of Ames played in the first and third rounds and finished in 66th place. His 36-hole score of 164 came on rounds of 88 and 76.
The tournament closed out the 2024-25 season for the DMACC men's golf team.
