DMACC men's golf team finishes seventh in national championship

 

Freshman Noah Moberg of Grimes shot a 3-over-par 75 in the final round of the 2026 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Men's Golf Championship May 22 at Swan Lake Golf Resort in Plymouth, Ind., and lead the DMACC men's golf team to a seven-place finish in the team standings.

 

The Bears' 305 in the final round gave them a 72-hole score of 1199, one stroke ahead of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (MGCCC) and Black Hawk Community College (BHCC).

 

Murray State College (MSC) won the team championship with a 72-hole score of 1167 and Heartland (Ill.) Community College (HICC) finished second with 1164 strokes. Kirkwood Community College (KCC), Northeast (Neb.) Community College (NECC) and Iowa Central Community College (ICCC), members of the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) with DMACC, were fourth, tenth and 13th respectively. KCC tied Meridian Community College (MCC) for fourth with 1185 strokes and NENCC finished at 1205 in placing tenth. ICCC's 72-hole total was 1212.

 

Moberg's round gave him a 72-hole score of 295, tying for 11th place in the individual competition. Sophomore Luke of Winterset turned in a 78 in the last round and tied for 27th place with a 298 and freshman Grady Sigrist of Norwalk tied for 59th with a 72-hole total of 306. He shot an 80 in the final round.

 

Mobert, Linde and Sigrist were the only members of the DMACC men's golf team to play all four rounds in the tournament. Sophomore Ryan Schmierer of North Liberty played the first, second and fourth rounds, shooting a 76 over his last 18 holes and posting a 54-hole score of 231, good for a tie for 122nd. Freshman Cade Sunde of West Des Moines, played the third and fourth rounds, shooting a 76 on the last day and tied for 129th with a 36-hole score of 157. Freshman Archie Nelson of Albert Lea, Minn., played the first three rounds and posted a 54-hole score of 235, tying for 124th place.

 

Connor Tallentire of MSC took medalist honors with a 72-hole score of 1-under-par 287 after shooting a 76 in the final round. He finished one stroke ahead of Jace Duckwirth of MCC after Duckwirth shot 77 in the final round.

 

The tournament closed out the 2025-26 season for the DMACC men's golf team.
