DMACC men's track & field team competes in Kip Janvrin Open
  • DMACC gets a fifth-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay
  • Freshman Eli Page finishes 17th in the 800-meter run
  • Sophomore Pat Heffernan places 36th in the 1500-meter run

 

The DMACC men's track & field team competed in the Kip Janvrin Open April 24 to 26 at Simpson College in Indianola and claimed a fifth-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay. Freshmen Hunter Landphair of Adel, Zach Stoermer of Des Moines and Eli Page of Vinton joined sophomore Pat Heffernan in the event and they posted a time of 3 minutes, 37.48 seconds.

 

Page garnered DMACC's next best finish, placing 17th in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:56.05. Stoermer, Heffernan, Landphair and sophomore Eli Bergman of Hoffman, Minn., also ran in the event. Stoermer was 39th in 1:58.21, Hefferman finished 73rd with a time of 2:02.57 and Landphair crossed the finish line in 2:06.42, good for 87th place. Bergman turned in a time of 2:15 and placed 100th.

 

Heffernan, sophomore Will Thompson of Clive and Bergman ran in the 1500-meter run and finished 36th, 83rd and 99th respectively. Heffernan posted a time of 4:06.03, Thompson crossed the finish line in 4:27.59 and Bergman's time was 4:39.78.

 

Sophomores Jordan King of Ogden and Jake Hitchcock of Johnston ran in the 5000-meter run and were 54th and 119th respectively. King's time was 15:43.93 and Hitchcock turned in a time of 17:27.58.

The DMACC men's track & field team will compete in the Region 11 Championships May 2 to 4 at Council Bluffs.
