DMACC men's cross country team wins Indian Hills Invitational

 

Sophomore Eli Page of Vinton turned in a time of 25 minutes, 18 seconds over the 8K course to lead the DMACC men's cross country team to the team championship in the Indian Hills Invitational October 10 at the Indian Hills Cross Country Course in Ottumwa.

 

Page's second-place finish helped the Bears to 37 points and a 37-point cushion over runner-up Indian Hills Community College (IHCC). Heartland (Ill.) Community College and St. Ambrose University (SAU) tied for third with 78 points.

 

Other DMACC results included fifth and sixth place finishes by sophomores Elija Blix of Vinton and Ryan Stoermer of Des Moines. DMACC freshmen Sam Mora of Grimes and Christian Choate of Martensdale finished 10th and 14th respectively.

 

Blix posted a time of 25:50, Stoermer toured the course in 25:52 and Mora and Choate were timed in 26:12 and 26:29 respectively.

 

IHCC's Bailey Taig took medalist honors with a time of 24:52.

 

DMACC freshman Joseph Lowry of Waukee, sophomore Hunter Landphair of Adel and freshmen Gabe List of Watertown, S.D., and Owen Ament of Colfax also ran in the race. Lowry was 16th in 26:46, Landphair finished 27th with a time of 28:03, List crossed the finish line in 28:56 and Ament turned in a time of 30:57.

 

The DMACC men's cross country team will run in the Region 11 Championships Oct. 24 at Lakeside Municipal Golf Course in Fort Dodge.
