The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Jasey Anderson the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II Softball for the week of May 5 to 11.
Anderson, a freshman from Estherville, is being honored by the conference for the first time this season and she is one of 10 members of the DMACC softball team to have earned the honor this season.
Freshman Ella Husak of Polk City, freshman Bri Tigges of Urbandale, freshman Erin Ades of Boone, sophomore Breanna Caffery of Bettendorf, freshman Macee Reilling of Dallas Center and sophomore Hilary Wilson of Solon have been honored for their hitting with Husak having earned the honor twice.
Freshmen Kierra Jungers of Fonda and Jacki Baas of Bondurant and sophomore Macy Blomgren of Waukee have been honored for their pitching with Jungers having earned the honor six times and Baas and Blomgren being honored twice each.
Anderson batted .800 with four hits in five at-bats as the Bears won their 11th consecutive district championship by sweeping a doubleheader from Dawson Community College (DCC) May 9 at the DMACC softball team. She had one hit, a single, and scored two runs in the Bears' 10-2 win in the first game and was 3-for-3 with two home runs, two runs scored and three runs driven in as DMACC took the second game, 12-0.
Anderson is batting .464 with a .531 on-base percentage and a .864 slugging percentage this season. She has 51 hits in 110 at-bats and her hits include eight doubles, six triples and eight home runs. She has scored 45 runs and drive in 35 runs. Anderson also has 17 stolen bases in 22 attempts.
The DMACC softball team, 55-5, will make its. 11th consecutive appearance in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Softball World Series May 19 to 24 at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Ala. The Bears, who have qualified for the tournament in 12 of the past 13 seasons, will be the tournament's No. 4 seed and will play either Mott Community College (MCC) or Illinois Central College (ICC) May 20 at 11 a.m. MCC is seeded 20th and ICC is seeded 13th.
