DMACC's Magan Christopherson named ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II women's basketball
  • Christopherson had a career-high 34 points in a win over RCTC
  • Christopherson barely missed a triple-double in a win over Grand View JV
  • Christopherson is averaging 17.6 points a game

 

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Magan Christopherson the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II women's basketball for the week of November 15 to 21.

 

Christopherson, a covid-19 freshman (CoFR) from Milford, is the first member of the DMACC women's basketball team to be honored by the conference this season.

 

Christopherson led the Bears wins over the Grand View University junior varsity (GVUJV) and Rochester Community and Technical College (RCTC) during the week. She barely missed a triple-double with 13 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds in an 80-59 win over GVUJV on Nov. 18 and scored a career-high 34 points on 58 percent shooting as DMACC defeated RCTC 75-57 on Nov. 19. Her 34 points came on 11-of-19 shooting from the field, including 7-of-12 from three-point range. She was 5-of-7 from the free throw line.

 

Christopherson leads the Bears in scoring, averaging 17.6 points a game. She is shooting 43 percent from the field, having made 43 of 99 field goal attempts. Christopherson is 17-of-46 from three-point range for 37 percent and has made 20 of 27 free throw attempts for 74 percent. She also tops the Bears in assists with 43 and is averaging six assists a game. Christopherson's season also includes 31 rebounds, 14 steals and two blocked shots.

 

The DMACC women's basketball team will be home to Highland (Kan.) Community College (HCC) on Nov. 28. Game time is 2 p.m. inside the DMACC gymnasium. Christopherson scored 14 points in a 61-49 win over HCC Nov. 13 at Highland, Kan.
