The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Alivia Carr the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II Women's Basketball for the week of November 3 to 9.
Carr, a freshman from Bettendorf, is being honored for the first time this season and she is the only member of the DMACC women's basketball team to have been honored by the conference thus far in the young season.
Carr scored 41 points on 53 percent shooting in leading the Bears to a pair of wins during the week. She tallied 24 points in an 82-77 win over Black Hawk-Moline Community College (BHMCC) Nov. 4 at Moline, Ill., and scored 17 points in a 69-51 win over Anoka-Ramsey Community College (ARCC) Nov. 6 inside the DMACC gymnasium.
Carr made 10 of 17 field goal attempts in the win over BHMCC, including 1-of-5 from three-point range, and connected on three of six free throw attempts. Her line for the game included nine rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Carr was 6-of-13 from the field, including 2-of-3 from three-point range, and went 3-of-4 from the free throw line in the win over ARCC. Her line for that game included three rebounds and three steals.
Carr is averaging 16.7 points a game this season. She had made 19 of 41 field goal attempts for 46 percent and is 4-of-11 from three-point range for 36 percent. Carr is shooting 67 percent from the free throw line, having made eight of 12 attempts. Her season includes 17 rebounds, four assists, six steals and one blocked shot.
The DMACC women's basketball team is 4-0 and is ranked 22nd in this week's Division II poll from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). The Bears will play in the JCCC Classic Nov. 14 and 15 at Overland Park, Kan. DMACC will face North Central Missouri College (NCMC) on Nov. 14 and will play the Saint Mary University Junior Varsity on Nov. 15. NCMC is ranked 13th in NJCAA Division II.
