Freshman Alivia Carr of Bettendorf and sophomore Breeley Clayburg of Coon Rapids recorded double-doubles as the DMACC women's basketball team dropped a 69-61 decision to Iowa Lakes Community College (ILCC) Jan. 10 inside the DMACC gymnasium.

Carr had 22 points and 12 rebounds and Clayburg came away with 11 points and 12 rebounds as the Bears fell to 13-4 overall and 5-4 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) with their fourth consecutive loss.

Three of those losses have come against ranked teams. DMACC, ranked 20th in this week's Division II poll from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), suffered its first loss of the season in a 65-60 decision to unranked Northeast (Neb.) Community College (NECC) on Dec. 15. Second-ranked Kirkwood Community College (KCC) handed the Bears a 59-53 loss on Jan. 3 and No. 14 North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) topped the Bears 62-58 on Jan. 7. ILCC is ranked 16th in this week's poll.

DMACC led the Lakers 15-11 at the end of the first quarter and 28-25 at halftime. ILCC, led by Zoey Wooten's 20 points, outscored the Bears 17-12 in the third period for a 42-40 advantage heading into the fourth quarter.

DMACC shot 40 percent in the loss, hitting 24 of 60 field goal attempts. The Bears were 4-of-15 from three-point range and 9-of-18 from the free throw line.

ILCC made 28 of 59 field goal attempts for 48 percent. The Lakers were 2-of-11 from beyond the arc and 11-of-22 from the free throw line.

DMACC came away with a 37-31 advantage on the boards thanks to Carr and Clayburg. Freshman Abriya Watkins of Omaha, Neb., had six rebounds and freshman Jordan Valley of Waverly led the Bears in assists with four.

The DMACC women's basketball team travels to Council Bluffs Jan. 14 to face Iowa Western Community College (IWCC). The Reivers are 9-6 overall and 6-3 in the ICCAC. They bring a three-game winning streak into the matchup.
