The DMACC women's golf team earned its second consecutive top 10 finish in a national tournament when the Bears finished tenth in the 2026 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Women's Golf Championship May 15 at Ol'Colony Golf Complex in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
DMACC, which tied for seventh in the tournament in 2025, shot its best round of the 72-hole tournament, a 348, in the final round for a 72-hole score of 1408. Shelton State Community College (SSCC) won the tournament with 1273 strokes and Murray State College (MSC) finished second with 1285 strokes.
Freshmen Megan Wilde of Somerset, England, and Hannah Kenkel of Waukee led DMACC with a tie for 34th place in the individual competition. Wilde shot an 11-over-par 83 in the final round and Kenkel posted a 92, giving them 72-hole scores of 344. Sophomore Haley Loonan of Gilbert finished in 47th place and freshmen Isabella Ross of Ankeny and Sydney Helgeson of Garner tied for 60th place. Loonan turned in an 84 in the final round for a 355 total over 72 holes and Ross and Helgeson had 72-hole scores of 374. Ross shot a 90 in the final round and Helgeson posted a 91.
Mallory Brooks of Wallace State Community College (WSCC) and Katie Hallmark of SSCC shared medalist honors with 72-hole scores of 304. Brooks shot a 1-under-par 71 in the last round and Hallmark finished with a 77.
North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) and Iowa Central Community College (ICCC), DMACC rivals in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) finished 11th and 15th respectively in the team standings. NIACC turned in a 349 in the final round for a 72-hole score of 1427. ICCC's final round and 72-hole total were unavailable.
The tournament closed out the 2025-26 season for the DMACC women's golf team
