- Sophomore Kayden Spencer leads DMACC with a fifth-place finish
- Sophomore Grace Collins and freshman Jaycie Vohs are seventh and 10th respectively
- All five DMACC runners finish 13th or better
A fifth-place finish from sophomore Kayden Spencer of Boone led the DMACC women's cross country team to a second-place finish in the Grand View Invitational September 20 at Ankeny
Spencer ran the 6K race in 24 minutes, 54 seconds as the Bears scored 47 points and finished 31 points behind the winning total of 16 points by Benedictine College (BC). Five BC runners finished sixth or better in the race.
Karen Kiratu of Southeastern Community College (SECC) was the overall winner with a time of 22:47 and BC's Alexa Lamb was second overall and first among runners scoring team points. Her time was 23:42.
All five DMACC runners finished 13th or better. Sophomore Grace Collins of Johnston and freshman Jaycie Vohs of Galva garnered top 10 finishes, placing seventh and tenth respectively. Collins posted a time of 25:01 and Vohs crossed the finish line in 25:14.
Sophomore Tori Yunggebauer of Williamsburg and freshman Dakota Tromblay of Ogden rounded out DMACC's effort by finishing 12th and 13th respectively. Yunggebauer's time was 25:53 and Tromblay's time was 27:28.
The DMACC women's cross country team will run in the Indian Hills Invitational Oct. 11 at Ottumwa.
