The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Kayden Spencer the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II Women's Cross Country for the week of September 16 to 22.
Spencer, a sophomore from Boone, is being honored by the conference for the third time this fall and she is the only member of the DMACC women's cross country team to earn the award. She was also honored the week of Sept. 9 to 15 and the time period of Aug. 22 to Sept. 1.
Spencer finished fifth in the individual competition in leading the Bears to second place in the team competition in the Grand View Invitational. Her time over the 4K course was 24 minutes, 54 seconds. DMACC scored 47 points in the meet and finished 31 points behind Benedictine College (BC).
Spencer has finished fifth or better in all three women's cross country meets this fall. In addition to her fifth-place finish in the Grand View Invitational she took medalist honors in the Trent Smith Invitational Sept. 13 at Mason City and was second in the Bill Buxton Invitational Aug. 30 at Indianola.
The DMACC women's cross country team will run in the Indian Hills Invitational Oct. 11 at Ottumwa.
